Emily Moriarty

Emily coached Champagne Notes quartet on a recent visit to Perth. She worked with us in the formation stages of our new contest ballad. We had a vision of what story we wanted to tell, but we weren't quite sure how to make it ours and how to shape the music to honour the narrative we have developed. Emily stretched us and our way of thinking, and approached things in a way which helped us take an existing arrangement and give us 'permission' to be dareful enough to truly make it our own. Her incredible arranging skills were certainly at play here too. Without that push, I'm not sure we would have had stepped quite so far outside of the box. We are truly inspired by what we explored with Emily and it's already feeling so much more like *our* song, even if it's still in its infancy. Emily sat down with us before we sang and really got to know our groups personality, and what was important to us as an ensemble. We believe that it was the time spent having this conversation which shaped and guided the rest of the session and the ideas that were given to us. Our coaching session with Emily was a beautiful full circle moment for us, as our very first song we sang together as a quartet was one of Emily's arrangements. Thanks again Emily!

Crystal Sound have had Emily coach us on a number of occasions. She is so generous with her time and her expertise. We think she's amazing! We love her approach... she listens well and gently, but firmly, brings the best out of each of us. Because of her theatre experience, we feel we get an extra bite into the performance knowledge and because she is an arranger, we know that she will get us singing our songs how they're meant to be sung. Emily coached us the day prior to SAA Contest in May and she gave us practical tips for maintaining enery, good sound and presence, both in sound and visual. We engaged her for a briefing of our performance after the contest. This was a so beneficial to us, as we needed to breakdown what we had put on stage. Emily watched our performance back, looked through the score sheets and explained what the judges were getting at. She then gave us much needed confidence and a lesson on self talk after a difficult stage experience. We are now building new, practical habits after Emily's great advice. We highly recommend Emily. What an INCREDIBLE Coach and human being!! Emily has been a guiding force for us starting as a new barbershop youth quartet. She helped us navigate our story arch’s for our contestant songs, discover our most resonant and relaxed sound, and workshopped us through our trouble points in our songs. She constantly has provided us tips and tricks, as well as the confidence in our abilities as a quartet to move forward with our goals and continue to improve our craft. We have been so grateful to have Emily as a coach and can’t wait to continue working with her.
